Arzuaga Navarro Wineries

Arzuaga Navarro Wineries

Bodegas Arzuaga is located in Valladolid, in the heart of the Ribera del Duero Designation of Origin. We will find the setting where the wines made by the winery are born on the La Planta estate, a property that the Arzuaga family owns in the Valladolid town of Quintanilla de Onísimo. This farm has a privileged location for growing grapes, since its vines receive the sun and the humidity necessary for the perfect ripening of the grapes.

The production of Arzuaga wines is based, without a doubt, on three premises: the soil, the climate and the orientation.

La Planta is a place where the local flora and fauna coexist. The flora consists of pines, holm oaks, and junipers, while the fauna includes wild boar and deer. This coexistence is undoubtedly a testament to the Arzuaga family's love for the natural world. The estate comprises 1,400 hectares, a true luxury in the heart of the Ribera del Duero Designation of Origin and Golden Mile.

It was in the early 1990s when After purchasing the La Planta estate, Florentino Arzuaga began planting vines, building the winery, and, of course, making wine.

The process begins in the vineyard, because it's impossible to make good wine without healthy, high-quality grapes. Therefore, yields are kept very low, in keeping with the poor soil and the harsh Castilian climate, since excessive production would reduce the wine's concentration and quality. The excellent quality of the grapes, an essential prerequisite for good wine, the meticulous care given to the vineyards, and the passion for the work have made Arzuaga wines some of the most prestigious in the Ribera del Duero Designation of Origin.

Quality is fundamental at Arzuaga; it is the most pampered and cared-for aspect.

Arzuaga Wineries It has 210 hectares of vineyards, distributed between the immediate vicinity of the winery and the natural area of the La Planta estate. The Arzuaga vineyards enjoy a unique climate: the days are characterized by clear sunshine, while the nights are cool and humid. This climatic combination results in a slow and perfect ripening of the grapes, yielding healthy, deep-colored, and sweet fruit with aromatic acidity. In this Castilian region, with its low-fertility soils, the Tinto Fino or Tempranillo varieties are cultivated, as well as the French Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. 80% of the vines are over 20 years old, producing approximately 4,000 kg/ha. Furthermore, Arzuaga Wineries It owns vineyards outside the province of Valladolid, specifically in the town of Malagón, in Ciudad Real, where it produces Pago Florentino wine.
