The founding monks of the abbey began the cultivation of vines and the production of wine. They chose this place, on the banks of the Duero River, because of its importance in the cultivation of grapes. Today, the winery, perfectly integrated into the beautiful surroundings, is one of the most prestigious in the area and since the beginning of 2022, with its own Protected Designation of Origin.
A quality seal recognized by the European Union and that endorses Abadía Retuerta wine as a product with a guarantee of origin, quality and tradition. It accredits the uniqueness of the Abadía Retuerta soils and the maximum expression of its terroir, understood as the climatic and geographical characteristics that give unique qualities to its vineyard and grapes, and the personality of its wines.
A quality, that of its wines, that shows its own identity and is governed by a single criterion: working with its own grapes, which come directly from its vineyards and produced in its own winery.
