Seagram's is a historic brand of distilled beverages, originating in Canada in 1857. In 1939, Seagram's Gin was born, the result of mixing and double cold distillation of fines and botanicals, along with the most neutral alcohols in stills that were more than 100 years old. They nicknamed it the “bumpy bottle” because of the irregularities on its sides. The original bottle was designed with seashell inlays, achieving a unique relief texture, and the family crest presides over the bottle.

Joseph E. Seagram took full control of the distillery in Waterloo, Ontario, in 1883.

Samuel Bronfman acquired the company in 1928, making it the largest liquor producer in the world after the end of Prohibition in the US.

In the 1990s, under the direction of Edgar Bronfman Jr., the company aggressively diversified into the entertainment sector (purchasing Universal Studios and PolyGram). This strategy proved financially disastrous, leading to the sale of its assets in 2000 to the French Vivendi.

Currently the beverage brands were distributed between Pernod Ricard and Diageo. In Spain, Pernod Ricard manages the distribution of Seagram's gin.
